Like in the photo in my previous post, Aussie abstract # 3, Mother Nature has been giving a helping hand with the design of this work: From one of Australia’s many fires.
Bushfires in Australia can be both harmful – and useful. Australia’s indigenous people used controlled bushfires to take care of the landscape.
In dry years the uncontrolled bushfires are a
This is my last photo of Danish winter landscapes now – it is also captured near Malling, south of Århus.
From my next post it is time to travel towards warmer climates
- and start dreaming of spring……
Like my previous photos of Danish winter landscapes – this is captured two weeks ago – near Malling, south of Århus.

Captured at the roadside in Victor Harbor, Australia, January 2011.

January 30, 2010 I published my first post here on this blog. Actually I totally forgot the 2 year anniversary of my blog here recently!
My last post “Danish winter landscape” – was my post number 200…..!
And today i can see, that I now I have also passed 20,000 views on
These weeks I am attending a training course in repairing and maintenance of gardening machinery at Jordbrugets Uddannelsescenter , Malling Department.
These photos were captured right outside the buildings, where the course is held. Here are folds for horses: One of the many other activities at the center is education programs to be a a animal and horse keeper.
This weekend, we had record low temperatures here in Denmark.
Minus 23 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature measured here for 26 years ….
The three pictures here show the Danish landscape – at Nordsminde Fjord. I was lucky to have the sun play with the light over the fjord, while I with frozen fingers captured the three photos of the view over the ice
These days we have Brrrrrrrrrrrr-COLD temperatures and snow – and winter has in has the very highest degree arrived to Denmark.
I hope that I one the next few days may have the opportunity to shoot some pictures from the COLD winter here…..
Until that:
More memories from last winter – which was long and very cold here. — While I was enjoying summer in Australia!:

These days the tennis tournament, Australian Open, is played in Melbourne.
I was in Australia last year at this time – and followed the tournament – on TV!
Australian Open 2011: Novak Djokovic is defeating Andy Murray in the men’s finals last year:
I followed the match – and enjoyed an Australian beer – which was tasty, but very expensive (even compared to Denmark!).

Half-way along Cap Martin you can see the tall buildings of Monaco get smaller the further out on the Cap you get.
At this point you can hardly see Monaco
“Rule of thirds” is not really a rule – but a thousands of years old help for image composition.
It is based on four lines, two horizontal and two vertical, that divides the image. And also form four points from the crossing lines. Please click on the link “Rule of Thirds” above to see an example (from Wikipedia).
This is a simplification of the “The Golden Ratio” –
The Australian artist Ron Muecks (b. 1958) has created the sculpture “BOY”. It is the landmark of ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum. The five meters tall and 500 kg heavy boy is squatting in all his impressive glory at the northern end of the museum’s special exhibition foyer.
BOY is a

AROS is the name of our Art Museum here in Aarhus. A modern and new museum, which already after a few years has distinguished itself in the Danish museum world and abroad.
In 2011 a new permanent exhibition opened, “Your Rainbow Panorama”, a gigantic installation with a weight of 250,000 kg, built on top of the entire museum building (whose structures had to be reinforced to carry this construction)!!
The artist behind this artwork is Olafur Eliasson. He has

This is not a Christmas elf – or me – but a boy. And there will be more about him in my first posts in 2012. After Christmas my next post will be my contribution to Scott Thomas’ Asssignment “Four Seasons”.
In my previous post I introduced you to a sculpture in Esbjerg. The title of the sculpture is “Man At Sea”. It portrays four men, who are watching the view over the Wadden Sea outside Esbjerg. The sculptor behind the work is the Danish artist Sven Wiig Hansen.
The stunning 9 meter high sculpture was erected in 1994 on the occasion of Esbjerg Municipality’s 100 th anniversary.
In my previous post I introduced you to the Danish city Esbjerg in Southwest Jutland. One of the most prominent and impressive landmarks here is the sculpture of four men who are looking westward over the sea. It is located between the harbor and Hjerting – I showed you what they are looking at in my last post!

This is the landscape around my hometown in October – in evening light.
If you look at this post from June this year – you will see the summer view from this very small road called Hovstien. It is situated 1 km east of Mårslet, where I live.
Here you can also read a little about the history behind – and the meaning of the name
Here are some of my best photos from the past year. And at the same time this is my contribution to Scott Thomas’ latest assignment “Best photos from 2011.” I have not had much energy for this these days (read my last post and you know why), and for the same reason, all photos here have been shown on this blog earlier, please click on the links to read more about the photos.

This is a Rose for My Father.
He passed away November 5., 92 years old.
For decades my father’s passion was his garden in Ribe.
The garden was wonderful and extremely well maintained.
There were a large number of perennials especially roses, many vegetables and numerous fruit bushes and
This is one of my absolute favorites in my own garden. In November it is obvious why…
And that’s why I have published a post last year too about
Japanese Maple (Japansk løn).
